Deadline Extension Appeal Letter

Prof. Candy Jackson

Professor

Institute of Sociology

California University

Dear Prof. Jackson:

The undersigned students would like to appeal for the extension of the deadline of our research paper on Collective Behavior. We think that 5 days as time frame to pass the research paper is not enough as the instructions tell us to visit different communities to observe events and activities related with our topic Collective Behavior. All of us are enrolled in other subject, and we think it is not practical to be absent from our other classes to work on the research paper.

We hope you can grant us with a week extension on your proposed deadline. This is also to ensure the quality of research paper we are going to draft. We hope you can give a favorable answer to our appeal.

Respectfully yours,

Cindy Hall

Financial Help Appeal Letter

December 1, 2010

Ms. Pamela Scott

Manager

Thrift Shop

Dear Ms Scott:

We are Sow the Seeds Foundation, a non-government organization aimed at helping the underprivileged children in the community. We are currently organizing a gift-giving activity that would benefit indigent children in the community. However, given the non-profit nature of our group, we only have limited resources that we can mobilize in order to make the activity possible.

In this light, we would like to appeal for a financial help from your end. Your help can be in cash or in kind—whatever you think you can give for the welfare of the children.

Our target is to help at least 100 children, and we plan to give away toys, food, and some school supplies. There will also be a formal full of games and fun activities for the children-beneficiaries. We would appreciate the help you can extend to our group.

Respectfully Yours,

Marie Young

Termination Appeal Letter

November 23, 2010

Ms. Donna Hill

General Manager

Best Foods, Inc.

Dear Ms. Hill:

This is in response to your written announcement telling your employees that you will be forced to terminate at least 10 employees in the next few weeks. You have cited certain reasons such as lack of revenues as the rationale behind the said termination plan. While we understand your plight in running the business, we would like to appeal from your good office to give employees at least 30 days notice before they would be formally axed from the company. This is to give them the chance to seek and secure their new employment first so they would not end up empty handed once there are unfortunately terminated from the company.

With our years—some even decades—of service in your company, we fervently hope that you will grant our appeal.

Respectfully Yours,

Edward Thomas

Redundancy Appeal Letter

Dear Mr. Max

I am one of those who were fired from the company because of the redundancy of the job description I was given. The reason that was told me was that the other guy holding the same position as I did was with the company far longer than I am. Being the more senior man, he got the position and I was fired.

I am writing to ask you to reconsider the decision that was handed down on me. I have done my job with diligence and I feel that being removed from the company was a poor decision on the part of management. If I cannot be accepted for the same position, I can do other job descriptions as well.

I am not asking that you remove someone else just to accommodate me. I know there is always a space on the company who is willing to work long and hard in achieving the company objectives.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Michael Bay

Medical Appeal Letter

Dear Dr. Frieze,

I was admitted as an outpatient two weeks ago and was put under your care and guidance. During my stay with the hospital, I was put under different kinds of medical tests, the purposes of which are unknown to me.

It is the unknown which has caused me to write this letter. After I came home, I have not felt any changes in my conditions yet have not received anything about my real condition, this in spite of the various tests that were done on me. I hope that this letter will give me a clear understanding of what is really happening to me.

I can go to your office anytime should you have any news for me. I do not want to impose on you as I know you to be a busy man. I only want to know what should have been told me long ago.

Sincerely,

Marianne Alto

Medicare Appeal Letter

Dear Dr. Wilson,

I have been taken ill three weeks ago and have been taken to a hospital for proper diagnosis and treatment. We have incurred considerable expenses which we have taken from our meager savings. We were not hesitant to use it as we a have Medicare coverage to provide reimbursement.

However, when we went to the local Medicare office, we were unable to get the Medicare coverage which we have the right to have as provided on the Medicare coverage. We could not get much headway with the local staff so we are writing to you for assistance.

We need my coverage so much and I hope you will not disregard my appeal. I have my contact number enclosed with this letter and on the form I signed up when I took a Medicare.

Thank you and I wish you could make a favorable response to my appeal.

Sincerely,

Scott Prince

Fundraising Appeal Letter

Dear Mrs. Gunter,

We are on a fundraising campaign and we are enlisting the help of some of the good citizens of the country for our cause. Right now, we have not yet achieved our desired goals for the period and I feel that I have to make a written appeal to you present our plight.

We are not asking for specific amounts. You can contribute whatever you can afford or see fit to give to us. We can also accept contributions in kind. Rest assured that such contributions will be put to good use and will be of much help to those that are in need.

Your kind contributions will be accepted at our office which is open during office hours. You can also give us a call and we will promptly go to your residence should you find it inconvenient to come to our office yourself.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Wayne Giles

Insurance Appeal Letter

Dear Mr. Correy,

I have filed for an insurance claim in your good office about a month ago due to an accident I suffered. From the provisions that I have read in your insurance policy, such an accident is included in my insurance coverage. However I have not received any response from you.

I am not sure what is exactly keeping my claim for insurance from being processed but I pray that you will heed my appeal. I am in dire need of financial assistance because of my inability to work and my insurance is the only thing that is left to me now.

I have enclosed my address and contact number with this letter. Should you find it convenient, please feel free to call me anytime. I am looking forward to hear from you.

I hope we can find a resolution to this matter. Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Adam Page

Appeal Letter Format

Appeal letters are written to ask for the reconsideration of a decision that was not in your favor. Below is a format of an appeal letter that you can use:

  1. Include a letterhead so that the reader will know your credentials and will handle the matter professionally and with urgency.
  2. Instead of general salutations, address a particular person.
  3. The first paragraph should contain an introduction of yourself and your concern. Write how the reader will be able to help you. For example, I am writing to appeal for the reconsideration of (insert concern). Remember to keep a polite tone to show that you are being objective and professional about the matter at hand.
  4. The second paragraph should include facts that will support your appeal. You can refer to guidelines of the contract that you both signed or you can narrate particular events that have occurred to prove your claim.
  5. You can also refer to testimonials made by persons relevant to the reader and to your case.
  6. The last paragraph should summarize your intentions and remember to thank the reader for taking the time to read your appeal.

Scholarship Appeal Letter

To the Head of the Scholarship Committee,

Greetings of Peace!

I am Elisha Fortworth, an incoming 4th year college student of the University of California. I am writing to appeal for the reconsideration of my current scholarship status, which is for “partial scholarship”. This is because I have incurred incomplete grades for the reason that a few of my professors were not able to pass the said grades on time.

A national teacher’s convention was held on the week that the final grades were supposed to be passed by our professors. They were not able to complete the grades in time for the deadline that was given by your committee because the convention was unplanned. It was, however, a requirement for all of them to attend the said calibration so they were left with no choice but to choose a higher priority over another one. In this case, the calibration was more important.

I hope that you reconsider my plea. A letter from one of my professors explaining the said matter is attached together with this letter. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my appeal.

Sincerely,

Elisha Fortworth
