Character Letter of Recommendation

To Whom It May Concern,

It is a great pleasure of mine to write to you this recommendation letter for my friend Josh Anderson.

Josh and my nephew went together on the same fashion school in Parson’s School of Design in California and were very close friends. I have known Josh for twelve years. Through these years, I have been greatly impressed by his exceptional talent in fashion design. I have also been a witness to his passion in the craft and in his drive for perfection.

Josh has an efficient way when it comes to handling people. He possesses excellent communication skills and a genuine concern for others. He is an active member in the society, leading, joining and volunteering in non-profit organizations in the community. Through the years that I have known him, there have been several instances where he has proven his trustworthiness, dedication and reliability, both inside and outside the workplace. He unselfishly shares a part of his life in helping the less-fortunate members of the society. I believe all these qualities, combined with his skill in fashion design, will make him a great asset to your company.

Sincerely,

Maegan Nicols

Academic Position Recommendation Letter

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter as a response to the formal request of Mr. Justin Heather for me to serve as a reference for his application. I understand that Mr. Heather is considered by the New Hampton University for the selection of candidates to the Graduate Research program.

I have known Mr. Justin Heather for the past four years of his stay in the university taking the post of Professor in World History Studies. I can personally attest his exceptional performance and his good work ethics. During his teaching career in the university, he is known to be a great teacher and an excellent motivator of his students. In fact, he was able to produce six licensure exam top qualifiers under his guidance.

In terms of work ethics, Mr. Justin Heather is very aware of the importance of time and quality. He was never late on his classes and ensures that his students are able to understand what he was teaching. His teaching attitude is also a role model for other professors he is working with.

If you have further questions about Mr. Justin Heather, please feel free to contact me at my office number.

Adoption Recommendation Letter

To Whom It May Concern:

I am a social worker working with the Carmelite nuns in taking care of lost, sick and homeless children. I have known that you were planning to adopt a child since you knew that you will be childless for the rest of your married life. Your wife was known to me to be a kind hearted, gentle woman who speaks ill of no one.

I have a child here, a special child, who has been a constant source of cheer and inspiration to me since I took care of him. He was found in a war-ravaged area, abandoned by his family. We do not know whether they are still living but no one has come forward to claim him.

I am therefore recommending this child for adoption since I know that he will be the perfect answer to your prayers for a perfect child. He is rather shy but I am sure that he will grow up to your liking.

I hope that adopting him will be the start of a new and lasting happiness for your family. May your adoption be fruitful and fulfilling.

Sincerely,

Martha Gaye Creed

Social Worker

Apartment Recommendation Letter

To Whom It May Concern:

Let it be known that Mr. John Edwards with current residence at #54 Goodman Street, Los Angeles, CA has been a tenant in our rental apartment located at 523 Main Street, Boston, MA from June 22, 2005 to June 21, 2008. This letter is a formal response to the request of Mr. Edwards for a reference letter that you included as a requirement for your leasing contract.

During his stay in my apartment, he was consistent in paying bills and rent payments and has been a good help to his neighboring units. Mr. Edwards took excellent maintenance of the rented property and he was able to keep the place nice and cozy. Whenever house repairs are required, Mr. Edwards notifies me immediately and shows cooperation in scheduling the needed repairs.

Mr. Edwards was an excellent tenant and I am greatly pleasured to known him. Aside from being a tenant, he also became a good friend of mine and helped me in several tasks in the apartment whenever he is available. I certainly would recommend him as a tenant in your property.

Regards,

Dexter Fulton

Sample Recommendation letters

Recommendation letters are written to help and support a candidate by presenting a better perspective of him/her.  The aim of these letters is to present the candidates in a good light.

There are different types of recommendation letters, like Student recommendation letter, Employment recommendation letter, Fellowship recommendation letter and Character recommendation letter.

Recommendation letters are given importance depending on their source.  So, it is important to write these letters on formal letter-heads as they would make better impact.

Typically, they must include facts about the period and kind of association you had with the person you are recommending.  This helps in establishing your credentials as well as the extent to which you know the person.

It is a good idea to quote particular instances to highlight the positive points of the person you are recommending.  This will give the letter an authentic as well as personal touch.  Recommendation letters should bring out facets of the person which would not be known through an application or other sources of formal communication.

It is good to keep these letters short, simple and sincere.  A page would suffice in most cases.
