Recommendation Letters

Recommendation letters are letters of references written to the concerned authority. It is an attempt to glorify the credits of a person so that he is given an opportunity to prove his merit in the respective field. The use of such a letter is twofold. It acts as a mark of respect for the employee, student or whoever the applicant is so that he is given a chance to proceed. It also facilitates the decision-making process of the employer, principal or the person in the authoritative position.

As recommendation letters are very important to apply for jobs, marriage, academic courses and business ventures, it is advisable to request someone responsible, reliable and trustworthy to write it for the candidate.

The following tenets should be conformed to while writing a recommendation letter:

  • The person writing the letter should know the candidate not just personally but also deeply so that he is in a position to rate and comment on the qualities of the candidate.
  • The relationship or nexus between the writer and the candidate should in no way bias the former’s judgements.

The letter should be detailed and complete so that the reader gets a wholesome knowledge of the candidate’s potentials.
